What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is IRCC’s system for managing candidates for three of Canada’s main federal economic immigration programs — Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Candidates who meet the application criteria for one or more of these programs can submit their profiles to the Express Entry application pool. IRCC then assigns each candidate a ranking score based on factors such as their age, education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.

The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool which usually occur every 2-3 weeks.

Canada has now issued a total of 31,250 Invitations to Apply to Express Entry candidates in 2019.
